I have been a resident of Elstree for 30 years and regularly shop in the Borehamwood shopping park.

However, last month, I received a Parking Charge Notice from Parking Eye, the car park managers at the shopping park.

I had overstayed the three-hour period allowed, by just 13 minutes. For that minor oversight of mine, I had to pay the absurd and unjustified amount of £85.

I feel this is an outrageous amount to charge and it cannot be considered as anything except a money-making unfair practice on the part of the management.

While I chose to pay the reduced amount of £50, within the 14-day option offered me, I still consider the amount a disgrace.

I fail to understand how local authorities can permit such penalty charges.
