The other day my loving, friendly, caring cat, who wouldn’t hurt a fly, was killed by a taxi driver.

My cat was playing in our close, as he always did, when a taxi hit him, leaving him for dead. I didn’t see the incident personally, but when a neighbour stopped the driver and explained he had just hit an innocent animal, the driver just looked at her and drove off like he didn’t care at all.

We rushed my cat to an emergency vet but we were too late and he died in agony in my mum’s arms, struggling to breath.

We were informed by the vet he had a punctured lung and broken legs, we can only assume the driver must have been doing over the limit as it’s only a small close and if he was driving the correct speed he would have seen a cat step out into the road.

After leaving my beautiful cat with the vets to be laid to rest, we went to confront the taxi company.

To my shock the two employees working the desk were disgusting. The young woman behind the counter had a grin on her face as if she was holding back laughter, while the gentleman said there was nothing he could do and wouldn’t even give us our cat killer’s name.

Dylan was a part of our family for 14 years and I need some sort of justice.

I’m an 18-year-old girl and I had to watch my cat, who was also my best friend, die in such a cruel way.
