The results of hygiene and safety inspections of food outlets in Hertsmere will be shocking to many diners.

With dozens of eateries failing to score any stars, customers will now be likely to think twice about where to grab a quick bite or meal.Making this information available to consumers can only work to improve the standards of food outlets in the borough.Putting the spotlight on pubs, restaurants, cafés and takeaways will allow consumers to make better informed decisions and will encourage owners to drive up standards.Let's hope the borough's food industry sees a rapid improvement in the coming months.

Unless the scores are displayed mandatorily in the front of every food outlet, what is the point of them?

Do they HAVE to be displayed - i know the certificate doesn't have to be - but what about the actual score?
