Hundreds of people dressed in their best queued for hours to share in the glamour of Strictly Come Dancing.

Fans and celebrities descended on Elstree Studios in Shenley Road, Borehamwood on Friday and Saturday for the first live shows of the hit series.

The biggest Strictly audience yet cheered and clapped as they watched Abbey Clancey glide to the top of the scoreboard on Saturday.

The television presenter and her partner Aljaž Skorjanec scored 32 with their romantic waltz to Kissing You by Des'ree.

Natalie Gumende had previously held the top spot after Friday’s cha-cha with partner Artem Chigvintsev to Boney M's Rasputin.

Almost at the bottom, with 19, was rugby player Ben Cohen.

His cha-cha to John Newman’s Love Me Again on Saturday was described by the Borehamwood Times’ s live blogger Martin Buhagiar as looking “as wooden as a Six Nations wooden spoon.”

Hairy Biker Dave Myers crawled to the bottom of the table, scoring 16 with his “terrifying” rendition of Maroon 5’s Moves like Jagger.

The Borehamwood Times willl be live blogging next Saturday's show as the first celebrities are voted off.
