CAMPAIGNERS opposing a renewed bid to build a railfreight terminal near Radlett will be canvassing support outside an exhibition organised by the developer on Friday.

In support of its forthcoming application for the rail freight interchange, on Green Belt land on the former Radlett Aerodrome site, the developer Helioslough will be holding a public consultation on Friday and Saturday at the Noke Hotel in Chiswell Green.

Members of Stop the Rail Freight Exchange(STRiFE), who will handing out leaflets outside the hotel in Watford Road, are urging people to go along to the consultation and raise their objections to prevent the fresh application from being approved.

STRiFE campaigner Cathy Bolshaw said: "We will be there giving out leaflets and encouraging people to go along and show how much opposition there is against it still.

"We hope that we can fight it off again once and for all."

Conservative MP for St Albans Anne Main, added: “It is no surprise that the developer has scurried back with a new proposal. This is still a monstrous application which we must resist strongly.

"I am urging all my constituents, who share my concerns, to go along to this consultation and to make their views known to both the council and the developer.

"This is a completely new application so we must fight this battle afresh as only objections relating to this specific application will be taken into consideration.

"I do not want this to slip through because St Albans did not get a wake-up call in time.

"Strife needs our support now, more than ever, and I will continue to work with them to fight this potentially disastrous proposal.”
