A public meeting to discuss possible courses of action over a renewed bid to build a rail freight terminal near Radlett will be held next month.

As developer Helioslough prepares to submit another application for the rail freight interchange, on Green Belt land on the former Radlett Aerodrome site, protesters will begin their plan of action at a public consultation on March 13 and 14.

The consultation, organised by the campaign group Strife, will be held in the Mountbatten Suite of the Noke Hotel, in Watford Road, Chiswell Green.

St Albans MP Anne Main and the campaign group are urging people to lend their support to prevent the application from being approved.

Conservative MP, Mrs Main, said: β€œIt is no surprise that the developer has scurried back with a new proposal. This is still a monstrous application which we must resist strongly.

"I am urging all my constituents, who share my concerns, to go along to this consultation and to make their views known to both the council and the developer.

"This is a completely new application so we must fight this battle afresh as only objections relating to this specific application will be taken into consideration.

"I do not want this to slip through because St Albans did not get a wake up call in time.

"Strife needs our support now, more than ever, and I will continue to work with them to fight this potentially disastrous proposal.”
