A petition has been launched urging Hertfordshire County Council to help fund the construction of a new Jewish primary school on the site of Yavneh College.
The petition has already received more than 550 signatures.
The campaign follows the decision of the council not to give capital funding to the college which would allow it open a primary school in September this year on its site in Hillside Avenue, Borehamwood.
Organisers say there is an overwhelming need for additional Jewish primary school places in Borehamwood to meet the needs of the rapidly growing community in the town.
