Radlett Conservation Area is now the subject of a formal appraisal by Hertsmere Borough Council.
The stretch of land, which covers sections of Watling Street and an area from The Grove to Scrubbitts Wood, is being scrutinised for its character, defining features and contribution to the surroundings.
The appraisal, being undertaken jointly with BEAMS Ltd, the trading arm of the Hertfordshire Building Preservation Trust, will follow guidelines set out by English Heritage and will also help to support future planning decisions for the area.
Conservation Area Appraisals are intended to provide an overview of the history and development of an area and include recommendations for the future, including potential changes to the area’s boundary.
As part of the appraisal, organisations and businesses are being consulted and the council is keen to hear from residents on what features they consider are important to the character of the area, or aspects warranting particular attention.
Feedback should be made to BEAMS Ltd before September 5 by emailing helencalfernandez@beamsltd.org or writing to: Helen Cal-Fernandez, BEAMS Ltd, The Castle, Hertford, Hertfordshire, SG14 1HR.
