A mother who has lost two stone and is set to take on her second half marathon is encouraging people to lose weight.

Four years ago, Lee Yaffie, who was then 47 years old, decided that she was so unhappy with how she looked compared to her closest friend that she had to change her ways.

The mother of three, who has lived in Radlett for 20 years, said that she had "no confidence in herself" and committed herself to a six week countdown.

In the end, she said it was quite simple. She decided to follow Slimming World's healthy eating plan.

Since adopting the plan, Ms Yaffie has combined healthy eating with exercise and now runs 5k every weekend in Aldenham Country Park. She has also signed up to take part in her second St Albans half marathon which takes place in June.

She said: "I am so proud of my achievements and would not have had the confidence or ability to run if it wasn’t for losing weight. It has given my so much energy I feel I can tackle anything in life.

“I couldn’t believe how much food I could eat and still enjoy my family favourite like a Sunday roast dinner- and enjoy all the meat, potatoes and vegetables I wanted."

Ms Yaffie will now be holding her own Slimming World group as a consultant. They will be held at Radlett Village Institute on Thursdays at 5.30pm and 7.30pm, launching on May 31.
