A theatre group who work with children and adults including some with disabilities and learning difficulties are appealing for a new home.

Herts Inclusive Theatre (HIT) are urgently looking for a new venue to hold their classes after they left their previous home at Hertswood Academy.

The charity run performing group work with more than 1000 people across Hertfordshire every year.

The charity are seeking a new home from February 2018 after they were told they could not continue at Heartwood as the space was needed for school activities.

The theatre group, who have used the temporary venue since September, have previously held sessions at the Ark Theatre.

Caroline Stevens, artistic director for HIT said: “We are of course really saddened at the news regarding the loss of the venue but are confident we will be able to find somewhere else with the help of the local community. Ideally we need to find a space which is suitable for both rehearsals and performances, as a lot of our participants need familiarity.”

Hertswood Academy said they offered their school hall but it did not meet HIT’s requirements.

A spokesman for the academy said: “Following the move of Heartwood Academy to a new site as part of its new build development, we have worked hard with HIT and other groups that hire the hall and academy facilties in order to accommodate all their needs.

“Although we have made the school hall and other similar spaces available similar to that HIT hired at the Ark Theatre, unfortunately our current options do not meet their requirements.”
