Some of comedy’s finest stars are set to perform at JW3 this Christmas, as the UK’s only Jewish Comedy Festival enters its fourth year.

The UK Jewish Comedy Festival will unite popular comedians Mark Steel, David Baddiel and Shappi Khorsandi, as well as welcoming new talent to the stage for the UK Jewish Comedian of the Year Award.

Mark, a columnist, comedian and broadcaster, will take to the stage to perform his new stand-up show, which unpacks an interesting and surprising story. He is a regular on BBC One’s Have I Got News For You and Radio Four’s Newsquiz, but has also written acclaimed books such as Reasons To Be Cheerful and What’s Going On.

Newly announced I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! competitor Shappi brings her newest sell-out stand-up to the JW3, having performed on a number of popular primetime TV and radio programmes including Radio Four’s The News Quiz and Just a Minute.

David, rather than performing stand up and off the back of his recent theatre show, will be joined by writer Devorah Baum to dissect “the Jewish joke” and attempt to work out the root of Jewish humour in a funny, interactive on stage discussion.

Guardian writer Hadley Freeman, who has also written books The Meaning of Sunglasses, Be Awesome: Modern Essays for Modern Ladies and Life Moves Pretty Fast, will present along with actor Abigail Burdess as the Misogynist Film Club, looking at the romantic films we know and love from a feminist perspective, all with a satirical swipe.

JW3, the first Jewish Community Centre and arts venue of its kind to exist in London, host a mix of events from the worlds of dance, comedy, theatre, as well as their state of the art cinema.

The Jewish Comedy Festival takes place at JW3, Finchley Road, from December 7-10.

JW3, 341-351 Finchley Road, NW3 6ET.
