A young boy from Potters Bar celebrated his birthday cycling for charity.

Dan Winter celebrated his 10th birthday by cycling around Oakmere Park in a sponsored bike ride in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital on Saturday.

Dan came home from school around three weeks ago and asked his family whether he could raise funds for the children's hospital charity, with the Winters deciding upon him cycling around the park in the week of his 10th birthday.

He said: "It’s such a fantastic cause and I’m looking forward to raising as much money as possible."

Laura Savory, Senior Fundraising Manager at GOSH, said: "We’re so grateful to Dan for their generosity and support.

"The money raised will help to make a huge difference to young patients and families from across the UK."

Dan did 50 laps of the park in around two and a half hours and has raised almost £800 for GOSH so far.
