Knife-wielding attackers have threatened to kill on more than 100 occasions in Hertfordshire over the last five years.

Hertfordshire Constabulary recorded 125 instances of threats to kill by people armed with knives between April 2012 and September 2016.

Of these, 34 recorded knifepoint death threats in the county came in a five-month period in 2016.

According to Home Office figures, there were 164 threat to kill offences recorded in Hertfordshire in the same period, meaning one in five were carried out at knifepoint.
