An intrepid climber scaled almost 900 steps to raise money for a charity close to his late father’s heart.
Alex Reuben, of East Barnet, worked with Andrew Passer and Mark Mishon to take on the Jewish Blind & Disabled stair challenge.
They climbed 877 steps – measuring 540 feet high – at the Broadgate Tower in central London in aid of Jewish Blind & Disabled.
In total, their expedition raised £3,500 for the Mill Hill-based charity which helped Alex’s father Russell.
Jewish Blind & Disabled provides care allowing independence, dignity and choice for people living with life-changing disabilities.
Russell had primary progressive multiple sclerosis, which affects walking and mobility, and was housed in a specialised apartment by the charity with his with wife Felicity.
He said: “It was an honour to do the challenge for in memory of my father.
“When I finally made it to the top I was exhausted and I was aware this was how people like my father, feel every day just getting out of bed.
“However exhausted Dad was he always thought about others first and we should all take a leaf out his book by putting others before ourselves.”
