A special event was held to show support for work the Scout groups across Hertsmere do for the community.

The District Scout AGM on June 20 saw Elstree and Borehamwood town mayor Cllr Clive Butchins, Mayor of Hertsmere Peter Rutledge and Aldenham parish chairman Neil Payne attend the event.

There was a presentation from three young members of the Scout group Aaron, Jonathon and Nlamh who spoke about their time at the Japan Jamboree.

Cllr Butchins said: “We are part of the family of Scouting. I am very proud of what we are.

“We try to recognise Scouts as an important part of the community as it helps to develop young people.”

Outgoing active district commissioner Dave Pullen was presented with engraved glass by ex-District Commissioner Ron Worthy as Jim Innes became the president.

Town Cllrs Sandra Parnell and Pat Strack were re-elected as chairman and vice-commissioner for the district Scouts.

This year celebrated 100 years of Cubs and a tree will be planted outside Hertsmere Borough Council offices in commemoration of this and the Scout Centenary last year.
