A young girl has put pen to paper and has written a poem about what is happening in the world at the moment.

Charlotte Brady, 12, from Spring Close, Borehamwood, was told by her teacher to write a poem on the good things in the world but all she could think of was all the negative issues.

Her teacher said no to the idea but that didn’t stop the young girl who spent her lunch break writing the poem on how she sees things going wrong.

Charlotte handed her work and her teacher told her to type it up as it was going to be published in the school magazine.

She said: “I felt very proud and pleased with myself. I did not think I was good at writing poems.

“I never thought I was good at English. I prefer PE and Music.

“I just wanted to express how I feel about the world. I do not just think about the positive things.

“Because I am not an adult I cannot say what I want to say. Everyone has a voice. Just do what you think is right.”

Her mum, Sara Brady, 50, said she was so proud and overwhelmed with her talent.

She said: “She is so passionate about what is happening in the world right now including the upcoming referendum.

“Charlotte gets quite emotion about what is going on in the world. She just wanted to express what is happening.”

Charlotte and her family will often have Saturday night dinner together where they talk about the issues in the world and what they learnt at school that week.

Mrs Brady said Charlotte is quite happy to sit there and write about her feelings and views.

She said: “I reckon we should get her up for PM Questions. She will give him a run for his money.”

Her poem, The Other Type of the World, can be read in this article:

First add the wealthy, the healthy, the strong

Then add the buildings, the creatures the humans

That is just the base of this cake, trust me there's more

Then add the industries, the pollution, the poor

Mix thoroughly until stiff

Shake some poverty into the mix

Add in the greedy, the selfish the pain

Add the wars, the death & the dismay

Then pour the starving, the lame and the insane

Place into the oven until it is brown

This is how the world will turn because of everyone around

No one realises what's gone when it's gone

If we carry on, this world is done

Just like a cake, if it gets burnt

You throw it in the bin and forget it was there

That's how the world will be if you treat it with no care

Around the world everyday, people die of pain and lame

One the other hand the rich take for granted of all killing species, the government... the world

You can make a change though

You can change the world Only if you care enough

The world will be a happy place.
