Borehamwood’s Safer Neighbourhood Team has got a new member in the form of a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO).

PCSO James Gaitskell will play an important role in policing the Cowelly Hill area after completing a six-week training course.

Mr Gaitskell has had an interest in joining the police since becoming a member of the Hertsmere Police Cadets at a young age and is looking forward to working closely with the community.

"I would love to be able to work with the young people that cause the anti-social behaviour in the area and actually get them involved in caring for the area they either live in or hang around in," he said.

"I want people to know that I am a friendly face who is always approachable - I hope to gain strong connections with local businesses and the schools in my area."

The former Leeds Metropolitan student, who studied a degree in youth work and community development, will play an important part in finding long term solutions to anti-social behaviour.

Police Crime Commissioner for Hertfordshire, David Lloyd Said: "PCSOs are firmly embedded within their community and are often the first port of call for people who are experiencing problems.

"They play a vitally important role in keeping the county safe and I welcome him the Constabulary."

You can contact the PCSO’s by calling 101 or 01707 354192 and asking for the PCSO you wish to speak to.
