The co-founder of a community magazine and a "much-loved" woman has died.

Roma Zite, who co-founded The Tried and Trusted magazine with her partner, Borehamwood councillor David Burcombe, collapsed in Borehamwood Retail Park on Monday, July 27.

Neely Harper, a passer-by gave CPR to Ms Zite, who was air lifted to hospital. However, Ms Zite never regained consciousness and died later in hospital on Wednesday, July 29.

Cllr Burcombe said the doctors told him that because it took a long time for her heart to start beating again her organs began to shut down and she was unable to breath on her own any longer.

He said: "We did so much together and everyone in Borehamwood knew her. She was always helping people and going to charity events - she will be missed very much."

Ms Zite, who has two sons, died at the age of 72.

She had been with Cllr Burcombe for more than 22 years, but had never married. The couple set up the magazine in 1999, which is a hub or local news and events.

Cllr Burcombe added: "We would like to thank Neely Harper who gave CPR. A thanks giving service for her life will be held shortly and a special invitation will be given to Neely."

As a post-mortem is taking place a date for the funeral has not yet been confirmed.
