Children made memories of the past for future generations to find out more about what life in Borehamwood was like in 2015.

Pupils from Kenilworth School, in Kenilworth Drive, Borehamwood, buried a time capsule at the Gemini Park, in Manor Way.

They filled the capsule with items to illustrate what they learnt and what they used in lessons beyond the year 2000.

Headteacher Samantha Jayasuriya said: The time capsule was fabulous.

“I didn’t expect it to be as big as it was. The plaque on top was lovely and we were all very excited.

“I showed it to the school in assembly, and the children talked with their teachers about what they wanted to, before making a final selection just before the event.”

Taylor Wimpey is currently building the 172 new homes at Gemini Park, the former Oaklands College site.

Christine Scarborough, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey, said: “We were delighted to welcome pupils and teachers from Kenilworth Primary School to Gemini Park for the burial of the time capsule.

“The youngsters have done a great job in documenting contemporary life, and the project has been a great way for them to think not only about life today, but also in the future.”
