Mothers have been working tirelessly to raise money to launch Borehamwood's first ever youth club for children aged seven to 12.
The new Funky Friendz club will be open in September - and the Borehamwood Times has launched an appeal to raise £4,000 to help them get started.
Here, we meet the children who will benefit from the club:
Gracie-Jane, nine

Sandi, 11

“I am looking forward to Funky Friendz because it will give us something to do on a Friday evening, meet new people and make friends.
“It will be good to make up dances with the other kids. I think it’s a good idea and I am proud of my mum and her friends for setting it up.”
Ellie, eight
Likes music, dancing, swimming and her Xbox
“I know there’s going to be fun things at Funky Friendz like arts and crafts, and there’s going to be music playing which is cool, and a football subuteo game.
“I am proud of my mummy for making a youth group for all of the kids to go, be safe and enjoy themselves.”
Shauna, seven
Likes dancing and gymnastics
“I will enjoy meeting friends, having fun and playing games with everyone, relax and play different activities at the tuck shop.”
Eve, eight

“I am looking forward to Funky Friendz because I might make new friends – I already have. I enjoyed helping my mum with the stall and the disco.”
Lily-May, nine

“I am looking forward to the fun, epic activities and the tuck shop. I hope I will be able to help my mum and have legitimate banter with the new friends I will make.”

“I am looking forward to art activities, the tuck shop and meeting the police and other visitors who come to meet us and making new friends”.
Zak, ten
Likes riding his bike and football
"I spend all my spare time playing football, going to Arsenal with my dad and playing on my Xbox even though my mum moans at me to play outside. I can't wait to go to Funky Friendz and meet up with my mates. I will definately be spending my pocket money down there in the tuck shop."
