Successful candidates elected to the Hertfordshire UK Youth Parliament were announced this week.

Vivek, 13, who attends St Clement Danes School, and was elected as a full Member of Youth Parliament representing Three Rivers; Sahil, 16, a student at Haberdasher’s Askes, representing Hertsmere; and Tom, 16, of Watford Boys’ Grammar School, representing Watford (both as Deputy MYPs.)

Voting closed on February 13 and the winners were announced at County Hall on Saturday with Councillor Richard Roberts, executive member for children’s services, in attendance.

Tom said: “I am thrilled to have been elected to stand for Watford.

“Thank you to all the people who have helped me in my campaign, both for their help and giving me the opportunity to bring feminism to the UKYP and to push on with the LGBT+ focus of our group.

“The coming year looks very bright indeed.”

Sahil added: “The voters of Hertsmere have worked for me in getting my voice into the UK Youth Parliament; now it is my turn, and my privilege, to work for them and get their voices heard in the UK Youth Parliament as well.”

Vivek said: “I am relieved all the hard work paid off and excited for the memories to come.”
