Nearly 95 per cent of children in Borehamwood were given their first choice secondary school place, figures show.
Hertfordshire County Council says that more than five per cent of pupils who applied have not been allocated at one of their preferred secondary or upper schools.
The number of applications increased by more than 400 from last year. This year, 12,488 Hertfordshire children were given a place at their first choice school, with 10,232 - nearly 78 per cent - gaining a place at their first ranked school.
Parents who applied online will receive an e-mail notifying them of their school after 6pm today.
Those who did not receive their first choice can appeal.
