Armed with wheelbarrows and spades, these little gardeners officially opened a new pebble pit at their school.
Pupils at Summerswood Primary School, in Furzehill Road, Borehamwood, stepped into their wellies as they dug the first earth in the pebble pit.
Wickes, in Elstree Trade Park, Borehamwood, donated £100 worth of equipment to help make the project a reality.
The new pebble pit is the idea of Zahra Boyd, the early years foundation stage teacher at the school.
She said: “This area has already had a huge impact on the children's learning and development. It encourages them to think creatively and critically and promotes social and language skills, cognitive development, mathematical and scientific concepts.
“Without the support of the parents and the generosity of Wickes this project would have not been completed as successfully and quickly as it has.”
