A hoax bomb threat was made in the county yesterday afternoon affecting Uno bus services travelling through Watford.

Police were called shortly after 3pm after concerns about a message posted on the Uno Bus Twitter page. As a precaution, all nine buses on the 602 route at the time were immediately stopped and evacuated. The buses were searched by police officers and nothing suspicious was found.

The 602 route travels between Hatfield, Welwyn Garden City, St Albans, Watford, London Colney, Shenley and Radlett.

Police have now launched an investigation, and Detective Sergeant Mark Corkin from the Welwyn Hatfield Local Crime Unit said: "It is important to stress that this was a hoax and there was no threat to the wider public. All precautions were taken by officers to ensure the public's safety throughout the duration of the incident.

"The tweet is being treated as malicious and we are keen to trace the person responsible for this thoughtless act as soon as possible. I would ask anyone with information to contact me immediately."

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact DS Corkin by calling 101. Alternatively call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
