Here's your guide to some of the best things to do in the week ahead:

  • Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!

Borehamwood Times:

The friendly bus driver leaves us with one simple instruction - don’t let the pigeon drive the bus! But the pigeon is very clever and whines, bribes, pleads and even sings a song to get his own way. Will you let him drive? Featuring original music and lots of audience participation, this lively show is full of fun, feathers, laughter and excitement.

artsdepot, Nether Street, Tally Ho Corner, North Finchley, January 25, 11am, 2pm, 4pm. Details: 020 8369 5454, artsdepot.co.uk

  • The Magic Porridge Pot and Other Tasty Tales

Borehamwood Times:

Splodge that porridge! Slurp that soup! Snap that biscuit! Enjoy three yummy yarns which are served with unexpected spices and quirky flavours along with puppets, pop-up sets and original music. Bon appétit!

  • National Winnie the Pooh Day

Head down to Aldenham Country Park to see the bear himself on his special day (we’re not making this day up, honestly) and visit 100 Aker Wood and bring your own picnic. If you bring a letter you can post it to Pooh and his friends.

  • Underhill

Bees fan get ready! Don’t miss this series of screenings of the award-winning film about Barnet FC, made by Simon Emmett and Anthony Shurmer, chronicling its departure from Underhill and that dramatic final game against Wycombe Wanderers in April 2013, and exploring the relationship between the club, its fan and the place they all called home for 106 years.

The Hive, Camrose Avenue, Edgware, January 16 and 17, 8pm, January 18, 4pm. Details: 020 8381 3800, barnetfc.com

  • The Alex Merritt Quintet

Alex is a top-quality jazz saxophonist who is joined tonight by pianist John Turville, Steve Fishwick on trumpet, bassist Mick Cody, and Matt Fishwick on drums. A lot of influences feed into the quintet’s music, from composers such as Berg, Bartok and Messiaen to the carnatic music of southern India, as well as jazz.
