A residents group has been set up to oppose plans for a new sports centre.
Plans for a Centre of Sporting Excellence in Rowley Lane, Borehamwood, proposed by Legal & General, are to face opposition from a group of angry campaigners.
PACE, the People Against the "Centre of Excellence" action group, have already begun leafleting the area against proposals, which include community facilities, a hotel and outdoor sports fields.
Ben Simon, chairman of the group, said: “The residents in the area and those we have spoken to across Borehamwood do not want this centre taking up the greenbelt land that is already in use by Strangeways Farm.
“We do not want the added light pollution, noise and traffic disturbances, among many other concerns, that the centre will bring.”
A decision regarding the plans will be made in April next year.
