Soaring house prices have left two roads in Radlett in the top 50 most expensive streets in the UK.

Research carried out by Lloyds bank this month found that Loom Lane and The Ridgeway were two of the most expensive streets to live in outside the capital, with the South East topping the tables for the highest property prices.

The average house price in Loom Lane, the nation's 34th most expensive street, is £2,847,000, while prices in The Ridgeway, ranked 37, average around £2,756,000.

Maragaret Towey, managing director of Lumley Estates, in Watling Street, Radeltt, said: “Yes Loom Lane and The Ridgeway are the highest prices achieved in the area, however Newlands Avenue has achieved the best prices per square foot.

“Some houses in Newlands Avenue have been sold because of the sizes of the plots, for example £3.5m to be knocked down and replaced with a new house.

“Newlands Avenue at some point in the future will overtake both Loom Lane and The Ridgeway as there are bigger houses with a higher value than both, however they have not been on the market or sold yet.”

Grosvenor Crescent in London tops the list of the most expensive residential streets in England and Wales, with an average house price of £16,918,000.
