Eyecare experts took action during Road Safety Week to promote road-awareness among pedestrians and road-users.

Specsavers, in Shenley Road, Borehamwood, distributed 100 high visibility vests to children during the annual awareness week and renewed the call to drivers and cyclists to make time for eye tests in their healthcare routines.

The opticians are a co-sponsor of Road Safety Week, an initiative from the charity Brake.

Store director Robby Shome said: “As optical specialists, we took it upon ourselves to raise awareness of the links between sight and road safety during Road Safety Week.

“We wanted to remind road users that their eyes need to be road-safe and encourage those on foot over the long winter nights to remain visible.

“We hope the children can help us set an example by wearing their high visibility vests in poor light conditions.”
