Car parks in Hertsmere will now be refurbished following a council decision.

At a meeting of the executive at the civic offices last night, councillors voted in favour of the refurbishment of Clarendon Road car park, in Borehamwood, Manor Road car park, in Potters Bar, and The Rutts car park, Bushey.

Wyllyotts car park and Furzhill Road car park were not surveyed as they made of reinforced concrete, and Brook Road car park was left ou because it was rebuilt in 2011.

The decision was made as there have been no reinvestment into the council-owned car parks since they became pay and display car parks in the mid 1990s.

Speaking at the meeting, council leader Cllr Morris Bright said: “I think this is very important, bearing in mind this is a source of income.

“People need to see that we are investing appropriately and I think it is high time this work is done.”
