A vicar has been honoured for his years of service to the church.
The Reverend Richard Leslie, of the St Michaels and All Angels church in Borehamwood, was made an honorary canon of St Albans Cathedral at a special evening service.
Friends, family, clergy and parishioners attended the service to support the Rev Leslie, who will be retiring next year after serving his congregation for 17 years.
He said: “It was very satisfying to see so many people I have worked with there. Although it is an honorary title, I have a stall in the abbey which I can use if I want to.”
During the service, the Rev Leslie was praised for his ongoing work in the community, including the Forum of Faith and the Borehamwood Foodbank.
