Teams raised £900 as they battled it out on the football pitch in aid of the Hertsmere Mayor's charities Kidney Research UK and Hertsmere Mencap.

The Mayor's Charity Football Tournament was hosted at Arsenal FC's training ground in Shenley on Monday.

Eight teams took part, including staff from Hertsmere Borough Council and housing provider Affinity Sutton.

Each team donated an entry fee to take part in the tournament and an Arsenal shirt and football signed by all the Arsenal players were raffled after play.

Mayor Cllr Carey Keates said: "It was a most enjoyable evening and all the players enjoyed it too. The final figure raised will be around £900, which will be donated to my two chosen charities along with other monies raised during my year as mayor."

Team AFC Meads Child UK topped the table and took first place, while the two teams from Hertsmere Council came in second – after losing a penalty shoot out – and fourth.
