A rotary club is asking people to choose their young heroes of 2014.

The Rotary Club of Elstree and Borehamwood is holding its Young Citizen of the Year award and is inviting the public to submit written nominations of up to 100 words.

A panel of rotarians will shortlist applications and interview nominees, before selecting one primary school winner, one lower secondary school winner and one senior school winner.

Each winner will receive a prize, while highly commended nominees will receive certificates.

The club is seeking nominations from schools, faith groups and local youth organisations and the public are also invited to nominate candidates.

Those in the primary school category must be under 11 years old on August 31, while lower secondary school nominees must be more than 11 years old and under 16.

Upper secondary school entries should be over 16 but under 19 by August 31.

Nominations, including contact details and the 100 word proposals, must reach the Rotary Club c/o 9 Watling Knoll, Radlett, WD7 7HW by November 22.

Each nomination must be signed by the nominee and the person nominating.
