A woodland walk and homemade ice cream have helped to raise £1,800 for the NSPCC.

The NSPCC held their annual summer party in Schopwick Place, in Elstree, at the weekend, which was opened by the Mayor and Mayoress of Hertsmere Councillor Carey Keates and Mrs Shirley Keates.

Around 250 visitors strolled through the woodland walk, sampled the homemade ice cream and enjoyed the various games and stalls that were on offer during the event.

Borehamwood Brass, conducted by Derek Holland, entertained the guests during the afternoon followed by jazz guitarist Paul Lomax.

A spokesman said: “The NSPCC Committee thanks Ann and Norman Shuker for the loan of their lovely garden and their generous help, all the musicians, Maxwelton Nurseries Well End for the gift of plants and the army of volunteer helpers who worked so hard to make it possible for everyone to enjoy a wonderful afternoon and make a splendid contribution to the work of the NSPCC.”
