Calling time on landlords

With reference to the letter by Chris Cotton (Foul play by landlords, May 9), I concur fully with the writer.
As a small business owner, my landlord has recently decided to bump up my rent by almost 75 per cent.
Do these people not realise the current economic climate cannot warrant these increases?
Never mind that the chicken market is now replete, we have another two catering outlets opening shortly. How many more eating places does Shenley Road need?
The sales mix in Shenley Road is not strong enough to encourage people to visit our high street, and coupled with high rents, decline is almost inevitable.
