Elstree Studios is going from strength to strength one year after the BBC moved part of its television centre production to the complex, its managing director claims.

BBC Studios and Post Production installed three television galleries at Elstree Studios to service two studios and the George Lucas stages, as well as refurbishing dressing rooms and make up areas.

Over the past year, the studios have provided a home to some of television’s top shows including Who wants to be a Millionaire?,  Dancing On Ice, The Voice, Big Brother, Strictly Come Dancing, Pointless, Your Face Sounds Familiar and Fifteen to One.

Managing director Roger Morris said: “The new studio facility that we intend to build in this new area will be to satisfy client demand and will increase the capacity of the studios by almost 30 per cent.

“The studios are probably going through their most successful period ever.”

Elstree Studios is also on course with its expansion plans to provide more production studios for both film and television.

A four acre back lot, which has been disused for 30 years, has now been cleared and ready for construction using money from the Herts Local Enterprise Partnership and Hertsmere Borough Council.
