The mother of Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Hertsmere has died.
Councillor Richard Butler’s mother, Shirley Butler, died while on holiday in Cornwall last week.
Cllr Butler is standing to be the next Labour MP in Hertsmere at the May 7 elections.
He is currently a member of Hertsmere Borough Council with his father, Ernie Butler, who has served on the authority since 2007.
A statement from Hertsmere Labour Party said: “While Richard will attend as many election engagements as he is able we hope people will understand if he cannot get to them all.
"Our deepest sympathy goes to her husband Ernie Butler, a long serving local councillor, and all his family on their loss.”
