People who live near Isopad House and Hertsmere House are being informed of a ‘prior notification’ application to convert the offices into flats.

The buildings, in Shenley Road, Borehamwood, could become 40 self-contained homes.

The change of use is subject to the condition that before beginning the building work, the developer must establish the impacts of the development on transport and highways, and any flooding risks.

Having received the relevant information from the developers, Hertsmere Borough Council is making adjoining owners and occupiers aware and displaying a site notice, as well as consulting the highways authority, the council's contamination land officer and the Environment Agency.

Councillor Harvey Cohen, portfolio holder for planning and localism, said: "This is an additional application to the bigger scheme already considered by the council and relates specifically to change of use.

“In assessing this particular application, the council will look at any representations made by those living nearby in relation to the key areas of transport and highways impacts and contamination and flooding risks.

“The council has written to 470 neighbours indicating how they can find out further information and how they can make any comments."
