Teenagers are one step closer to visiting Canada as part of an exchange programme, thanks to a donation from a coffee shop.

Starbucks, in Shenley Road, Borehamwood, donated coffee mugs and beans for a raffle draw to help raise the £350 needed for the 17-year-olds trip.

Ratidzo Masunda and Harry Whitlock, year 13 students at Hertswood School, Thrift Farm Lane, will be spending a week at a school in Dunnville, Ontario, as part of the project.

The raffle draw will be held at the school at a scary movie night at the school on Monday, October 22.

Mark Schmidt, the schools exchange coordinator, said he is very grateful for Starbucks’ donation.

He added: “I cannot stress enough the impact an exchange opportunity like this will have for Harry and Ratzido.

“Them going all of the way to Dunnville to soak up the culture will forever change them.”

The students, who will leave for their trip on November 1, will also be performing at an acting festival in the town.

Good to see local "big businesses" donating to community.
Hopefully donations will get bigger and these businesses will be more welcome.
All win situation.
