Volunteers sign up to Poppy Appeal Volunteers sign up to Poppy Appeal

People flocked to the Royal British Legion to sign up and become a poppy appeal volunteer.

Around 25 helpers attended the offices in Shenley Road, Borehamwood, to register their interest in selling the red flowers yesterday.

Carole Denbigh, honorary volunteer coordinator for the legion, said: “I was really impressed with the amount of people who came to sign up. Everyone was really keen to be a volunteer.”

The event was also attended by Deputy Mayor of Borehamwood, Clive Butchins.

Poppies are used as a symbol of wartime remembrance in the weeks leading up to Remembrance Sunday, which marks the end of the First World War.
