Paralympics inspired sports event sponsored by Elstree and Borehamwood Rotary Club

Disabled sports players will be competing in a special Paralympic inspired event next week.

The games, sponsored by the Elstree and Borehamwood Rotary Club, will attract around sixty sportsmen who have some kind of disability next Sunday, October 14.

People of all ages have spent weeks training in sports from boccia, bowls and table tennis to darts, new age curling and wheelchair slalom, in the hopes of being crowned a champion.

Elstree and Borehamwood’s Rotary Club President, Reverend Richard Leslie said members are really looking forward to cheering the competitors on during the event.

“This was inspired by a Rotary club president from Barnet who took inspiration from the Paralympic games.

“We too wanted to give the disabled members of our community the chance to take part in a sporting activity.”

The event will be held at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, in Brockley Hill, Stanmore.
