Herts Air ambulance lands at Hertswood School for Go Red week
Pupils from Hertswood Lower School in Borehamwood were a bundle of excitement when the air ambulance landed yesterday.
The helicopter's pilot spent time talking to the four to 11-year-olds about his job.
Dawn Easby, a coordinator with the air ambulance, said: “The kids had a great time and they all loved seeing the helicopter land.
“They were even able to ask the pilot questions and some said today has inspired them to train as a pilot when they grow up.”
The helicopter landing was organised as part of Go Red week, which sees hundreds of schools and businesses across Hertfordshire wear red to support the air ambulance.
Mayor of Hertsmere, Pat Strack, who helped organise the day said it was “just fantastic”.
The kids also donated cash to raise money for the ambulance, and in return were allowed to come into school in their favourite red outfits, raising £850.
