Charity football match for Go Red week
A charity football tournament held as part of Go Red week helped bring in over a thousand pounds.
Eight teams of amateur footballers, from businesses across Borehamwood, helped raise a £800 for the Herts Air Ambulance on Monday, September 24.
But this total was doubled by Barclays Bank, in Elstree Road, who won the tournament and donated an extra £750 – making a total of £1550.
Mayor of Hertsmere, Pat Strack, who organised the match, at Arsenal Training Ground in London Colney, said: “I want to say a big thank you to staff at Arsenal for providing the venue and the food.
“And thanks to Barclays for their donation, and to the referees who gave up their time.”
Go Red week sees hundreds of schools and businesses across Hertsmere take part in charity events, to help support the air ambulance.
