Cat-napper on the loose

A woman believes a cat-napper is on the loose after two felines went missing in the same day.
Sheila Benson, of Red Road, Borehamwood, was devastated when her Pedigree colour point, Snowy, disappeared from her home on Saturday morning.
She feared the worst after finding out that another Pedigree tabby kitten, named Freddie, vanished from her neighbours home on the same day.
Mrs Benson, who runs a property management company from home, said: “I am certain a cat thief is on the loose.
“Both our cats must have been stolen and there is no question about it, because that seems more than a coincidence.
“Pedigree cats are one of the most expensive cats on the market – I paid £400 for Snowy – so it is no surprise somebody wanted to steal them both.”
She alerted the police to the potential theft because she claims that Snowy’s disappearance is “very out of character”.
The one-year-old moggy has white fur and is described as an unusual looking cat.
Mrs Benson, who also has another cat, added: “Both me and my neighbour want our cats back. We are very angry that someone may have taken them.
“I have only had him around a year and he is a really cute, funny kitten. I miss him terribly.”
Stuart Munroe, a vet at Medivet in Shenley Road, said cat theft is becoming more and more of an issue.
He added: “Pedigree cats can go for up to around £600 and many people see it as a quick, easy way to find money.
“Cat theft is fairly common nowadays, which can have devastating effects on families.”
