Commuters will be able to get live bus updates as electronic screens and a mobile app are rolled out across the county.
Real-time updates on how many minutes a bus is away will be provided through screens, kiosks at bus stations, and on the Intalink mobile phone app, which has already been downloaded by more than 7,000 people.
The updates, which are standard in London and other cities, will help passengers work out how long they will have to wait if buses are held up by delays or cancellations and will be introduced in the next few weeks.
Hertfordshire County Council cabinet member for transport, Councillor Stuart Pile, said the information would help encourage more people to leave their cars at home.
He added: “Real-time passenger information will help make public transport more attractive to use, as well as helping us to deliver more reliable and punctual buses.”
