More people to benefit from free counselling service
4:34pm Wednesday 19th September 2012 in News By Anna Slater
A free counselling service can now offer treatment to more young people after moving offices.
Singpost, previously based in the Connexions Centre, in Manor Way, has moved to bigger offices in the Worknet Centre, Shenley Road.
Previously, young people aged 11 to 19 could only benefit from free counselling, but the move means anyone aged 11 to 25 can be seen.
William Allen, manager for Signpost, said: “The old building was right at the end of town and many said they had difficulties accessing us.
“The new building is right on the high street which will hopefully help a lot of people out.
“We can now see a whole range of people up to the age of 25, rather than the younger ones at Youth Connexions.”
Councillor Alan Plancey pledged £100 to give the new offices a revamp, which was used to “soften the atmosphere” of the counselling rooms.
