Man taken to hospital after fire in Shiremead, Elstree

A motorist was taken to hospital when the transit van he was driving burst into flames this morning.
The man was driving along Shiremead, in Elstree, at around 8.45am when the incident happened.
When firefighters arrived, they found the van, which was carrying carpets, “well alight” and it took crews just over an hour to contain the blaze.
The driver suffered slight burns to both his arms and was treated at the scene by paramedics, before being taken to Barnet General Hospital.
