Horticultural show to help raise money for Herts Air Ambulance

Quirky looking carrots and cool courgettes will be just some of the vegetables showcased at a fair this weekend.

The Borehamwood and District Garden Crafts Society are holding their annual autumn show, also featuring a range of flowers and fruits.

This year, the event will coincide with a charity fair to raise money for the Herts Air Ambulance, the Mayor of Hertsmere’s chosen charity. Rose Barry, vice chair of the society, said the group are really looking forward to the event.

She added: “It is so exciting, I think it is going to be a great day.

“Our members have been getting to work planting all kinds of vegetables, fruits and flowers and there will be a competition on the day.

“The fair will hopefully raise an interest in growing fruit and vegetables.

“I hope the generous public of Elstree and Borehamwood will support the Herts Air Ambulance, and enjoy the entertaining buzz of the day.

The event will also see a range of stalls, from jewellery to crafts, raising cash for the charity. A raffle will also be held. The Borehamwood Brass Band will also be on hand, providing musical entertainment throughout the day.

The horticultural show and the charity fair will both be held at Allum Hall, in Allum Lane, from 11am to 4.30pm on Saturday, September 15.
