Pubs in Borehamwood and Elstree are gearing up for what they hope will be a busy bank holiday weekend.

Despite the weather being forecast to be unsettled landlords are hoping that their pubs will be busy.

Matthew Ferris, deputy manager of The Crown, in Shenley Road, said: “I think we will be really busy in the garden if the sun comes out.

“If it is raining that won’t be a disaster as it will keep people in Borehamwood; they won’t be so keen to go into London.”

He added: “We are holding a disco on Friday night and rock’n’roll bingo on Thursday night so that should draw the punters.”

Geoff Taylor, one of the new landlords at the Waggon and Horses in Watling Street, Elstree, is also hoping for a busy weekend.

He said: “We have got lots of musicians coming up to the pub for some jamming and come rain or shine we are expecting quite a lot of people for that on Sunday and Monday.

“We will also expect to be busy for Sunday roast even if the weather isn’t great.

“It will be our first bank holiday here so it will be a chance for us to find out what to expect on these occasions.”

The Met Office is expecting Borehamwood to experience light showers on Saturday and a top temperature of 18 degrees.

Sunday and Monday are expected to be characterised by sunny intervals and top temperatures of 19 degrees.
