Air Ambulance charities across the country are urging the public to help them raise money and awareness during National Air Ambulance Week in September.

The Herts Air Ambulance is this year’s Mayor of Hertsmere’s charity, and people from all across the county are being urged to help fundraising.

The awareness week, which takes place between September 24 and 30, sees the Association of Air Ambulances (AAA) come together to help raise money for the cause.

In Hertsmere, Councillor Pat Strack is encouraging people to ‘Go Red’ to raise awareness for the service.

During the week, schools, businesses and councillors across the borough will be sporting their favourite red outfits to raise money for the Herts Air Ambulance.

There will also be a football tournament and a coffee morning.

Pam Withrington, Head of Fundraising & Marketing at Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust, said: “We have been delighted by the response of the public in showing their support for Go Red.

"Many people have already got in touch to tell us their plans. Schools, businesses and local groups are getting involved by wearing red for the day or holding red themed events.

"We would love even more people to come forward and support Go Red – check out our website for information.”
