Hertfordshire County Council says it will enforce the speed limit in a Borehamwood street after people hit out at “crazy drivers.”
Residents who live in Well End, Borehamwood, complained that the 30mph speed signs are “inadequate” and police figures showed that motorists regularly go over by around 20mph.
Stuart Pile, cabinet member for Highways and Transport, told the Borehamwood and Elstree Times : “More than a year ago, we placed some road markings to try and reduce speeds.
“The issue has also been included for consideration in the Borehamwood and Elstree transport plan.
“Unfortunately, the recent speed monitoring shows that some motorists are ignoring the 30mph limit. We will be working with our police colleagues to enforce the speed limit.
“I would like to take this opportunity to try to appeal to motorists to drive at an appropriate speed and have consideration for other road users and pedestrians.”
